Candidates
who wish to enter the seminary should note the information below.
- Each candidate
should submit the following to the President of the College
- A letter
of nomination from his Bishop.
- A certificate
of Baptism.
- A certificate
of Confirmation.
- A character
reference from his parish priest.
- A character
and general assessment report from the principal of his school
and/or former employer.
- Each candidate must ensure that his final examination
results are sent to the President of the College not later
than two weeks before the date of entry.
- All candidates for courses in the National University
of Ireland, Maynooth must fulfil the matriculation and registration
requirements of this university.
- Candidates for admission to the first-year University
class should have applied for admission through the Central
Applications Office. Such applicants must be 17 years of
age by 15 January of the year following entry.
- Candidates for the Diploma in Philosophy and Arts should
meet the following requirements: pass (grades A-D) at Ordinary
Level in five subjects in the Leaving Certificate or its
equivalent. Three of these subjects should qualify as academic
subjects in the NUI syllabus.
- Candidates
who do not have Leaving Certificate Latin or its equivalent
take a two-year Latin course, concurrently with their Arts/Philosophy
studies, before they proceed to the study of Theology.
- All candidates
for admission to the College are required to comply with the
regulations set out in the official List of Requirements, copies
of which may be had on application to a candidate's Bishop.
