Admission Requirements:
An NUI Matriculation or its equivalent is required. A points system will operate
when the number of applicants exceeds the places available.
Application Procedure: Application for the BATh is made through the Central Applications Office (CAO). Application forms are available in post-primary schools in Ireland or from:

Applications should be received by the CAO on or before 1 February. Late applications may be accepted up to and including 1 May on payment of an additional fee to the CAO. This degree qualifies for Higher Education grants and for Fee Remission Programmes. Under certain circumstances a student may defer entry for one year.
Mature applicants: Applicants 23 years of age or over on 1 January of the year of intended entry who do not fulfil the normal matriculation requirements may apply for matriculation on the basis of mature years. Before 1 February, mature applicants must:
Saint Patrick’s College provides a mentoring system designed as a support for First Year Students as they make their transition to University life. The Mentoring system is coordinated by the Registrar of the Pontifical University. First Year students will be assigned a member of staff as mentor for the duration of their first year. Students are encouraged to avail of this service, although it is not obligatory. Lists of designated mentors will be provided at the beginning of the academic year. Further information may be had from the Registrar at the Theology Office.
First Year Programme
In the first year students are required to take three subjects: Theology, which
amounts to about half the year's programme, and two Arts subjects. The Arts
courses are described in the syllabus of the National University of Ireland,
Maynooth.

Since subjects in a given group coincide in the timetable, a student can take at most one subject from each group. Circumstances may demand that a limit be placed on the number of students taking a particular subject. Third year students must submit a mojor essay in one of the three core subject areas of study (i.e. Sacred Scripture, Systematic Theology or Moral Theology). This essay will be prepared in consultation with a director and in accordance with the Faculty's guidelines for essay presentation. The length of the essay shall be at the discretion of the director, but it shall not be less than 5,000 words or more than 10,000 words. A list of topics and directors will be published by the end of the first semester. Students are required to register the title of the essay, with the approval of the director, by the last day of class before the Easter vacation of their second year. Students' first choice of director/essay will be honoured when possible, but each director can accept only a limited number of students. The completed essay must be submitted by the final day of lectures before the Easter vacation of their third year. |
