Current recipients of the

"I am currently examining the writings of Jean-Luc Marion as they pertain to the topic of transcendence. By its very nature, transcendence is ungraspable. However, Marion's work on the gaze, the invisible, and so-called "negative theology" offers certain valuable insights with regard to what one can and cannot say on this subject. I am also investigating how strong a link there is between Marion’s insights and Christian revelation".

My studies will explore the history and development of Congregational Singing in Ireland. There is little known about how the Irish people celebrated the liturgy in song since Christianity came to our shores. Even today, there are many questions as to why the Irish do not sing in Church. Dr Nóirín Ní Riain, who has made a very significant and valuable contribution to the study and integration of Plainchant into our Irish Church, once stated that: ‘If you can walk, you can dance, so if you can talk, you can sing!’ Can this theory be put into practice? I hope to research the historical and cultural impact of the Irish congregations on the ‘sung delivery’ of sacred music.
