As the academic year begins, we invite students and their parents, alumni and friends to contribute to this fund for the benefit of students. The appeal is called the Michaelmas Appeal for the Maynooth Scholastic Trust, and is conducted each September in honour of Saint Michael the Archangel, whose feast we celebrate on the 29th September. Traditionally the first term in University is called Michaelmas Term.

A University is measured by its Scholars, Conferences and Publications, and the Pontifical University at Maynooth needs your help to further develop these areas. Through the generosity of our donors, the Maynooth Scholastic Trust finances a small number of scholarships, valued from €15,000 to €2,600 per year. The Trust also sponsors lectures such as the Michael Devlin Lecture which attracts international contributors and scholars, while the various publications of the faculty enhance the reputation of Saint Patrick’s College and its Pontifical University across the globe.
The Maynooth Scholastic Trust benefits postgraduate students, but where scholars from abroad are attracted to undertake postgraduate studies in Saint Patrick’s College, the College’s international profile is raised. The international dimension of the College’s academic activities has always been significant, but it is a critically important aspect of university life in the globalized world.
