Biography:
Priest of the Diocese of Ossory. BPhil, Pontifical Lateran University 1965; Academic Tutor, Pontifical Irish College, Rome 1970-72; Doctor S Theologiae, Pontifical Gregorian University 1973; HDE, UCC 1974; Professor of Dogmatic Theology, St Kieran’s College, Kilkenny 1975-84; weekend parish work, retreats, youth work in the Diocese of Ossory; founding member of the Maynooth Patristic Symposium (1984-present); member at various times of Irish Episcopal Commissions for Catechetics, Ecumenism and Theology; currently Joint Secretary of the Irish Inter-Church Meeting; Member, International Theological Commission (From1998-present); member of sub-committee that drafted the ITC’s Memory and Reconciliation: The Church and the Faults of the Past (2000); member Drafting Committee for the Charta Oecumenica (2001); renewal courses in Theology in Malta (Malta, September 1999) and Pakistan (2004); Visiting Scholar at the University of Chicago Divinity School, (March-July 2004).
