Diaconate Ordination 2011

On a beautiful Sunday, 29th May 2011, Archbishop Diarmuid Martin ordained seven candidates to Diaconate in the College Chapel at St Patrick's College, Maynooth.

Seven candidates prostrate themselves during the Litany of the Saints

As the candidates kneel before Archbishop Martin, he lays hands on each of them, in silence

The newly ordained Deacons stand and are vested with the Stole and Dalmatic
while the Choir sings Psalm 83 under the direction of Dr John O'Keeffe

Each candidate goes to the Archbishop and kneels before him.  The Archbishop places the Book of the Gospels in the hands of each one, and says:

‘Receive the Gospel of Christ,
whose herald you now are.  
Believe what you read;
teach what you believe
and practice what you teach’
