Filming on the Maynooth College Campus

The College Grounds provide a rich tapestry of locations for film producers and directors.

During the Summer months, several film crews avail of the campus features and facilities to produce documentaries, advertisments and drama productions. The photographs feature Miriam O'Callaghan presenting a documentary under the direction of Gerry Hoban of Tyrone Productions, a company that has used the campus for locations twice already this year.

Location, location, location....
The many buildings dating from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries can provide diverse locations for dramatic productions. The College as a film location is probably best remembered for its part in the 1983 movie Educating Rita, directed by Lewis Gilbert, starring Michael Caine and Julie Walters, though the National Lottery Advertisment of the Monks winning may be better known by younger people.

Film scouts needing the following will find Maynooth College an ideal location:

Overnight truck parking can be provided for make-up, catering, wardrobe and facilities while the College can provide residential accommodation, catering, parking and most of your needs.
