
The 40th annual Summer School of the Irish Church Music Association will take place from
Monday July 6th to Friday July 10th 2009
at St Patrick’s College Maynooth
The Guest Director this year will be Kevin O’ Carroll, son of the late Fintan O’ Carroll.
Kevin has been involved in the musical life of Waterford for over thirty years both as a conductor and French horn player. As a student he was awarded a series of musical scholarships to both the Schola Cantorum in Mullingar as well as the Royal Irish Academy of Music in Dublin. More recently he has studied conducting with the internationally renowned conducting pedagogue and clinician, Dr. John Dickson at Texas Tech University, USA. He has also worked with David Hill (King’s College, Cambridge), Tim Brown (Clare College, Cambridge) as well as the well known British composer and conductor Bob Chilcott.

There will be a recital by the Dublin based choir Fuaimlaoi directed by Ronan McDonagh on Wednesday evening the 8th of July in the College Chapel.
It promises to be a very enjoyable and fulfilling week.
