John McElligott retires as Head of Security

After seven years as Head of Security, John McElligott retired on 9th October.

On his final day, John was honoured by a reception in the Council Room, where Professor John Hughes, President of NUI Maynooth spoke of John's distinguished career lasting 35 years in the Gárda Síochána prior to his appointment in Maynooth. He described John above all as a gentleman, whose roots were in North Kerry, and whose qualities of communication and management made his tenure as Head of Security an extraordinary happy time for the whole campus community of Saint Patrick's College and NUI Maynooth. John was presented with a crystal decanter and glasses in a thronged Council Room.
