This year's Christmas Card features "Saint Joseph, the man chosen by God". The elderly Saint Joseph appears to be taking the infant Jesus with him for a walk, but Mary is depicted in the shadows keeping an eye on them both.

The original is an oil painting on canvas (105 x 120 cm) from the Maynooth College Collection. The painting has grown dark with age, and it is hard to see the details, due to the effects of central heating, dust and the yellowing of the varnish over time. It was photographed by EbonyandPearl.com using intense light to penetrate the accumulated dirt and varnish of the years, thus revealing the original colours.
