Holders of FETAC qualifications are welcome to apply to our programmes. Application is made through CAO. Applicants must have obtained a FULL award. A Record of Achievement / Component Certificate will not suffice. A minimum of five module/component distinctions are required for all courses. Note that a full FETAC award normally contains 8 modules/components. A full award may be accumulated over more than one academic year. In such cases, it is the responsibility of the applicant to apply to FETAC for a full award where courses are taken over more than one year.
The best eight modules/components in a single sitting are used for scoring/ranking purposes. In other words, while a major award may be achieved over a number of sittings, the results that a student achieves in a single sitting (i.e. 1st August - 31 July) are used for scoring purposes. The total maximum score that can be achieved is 400 points. Grade scores are as follows: 3 points for a Distinction, 2 points for a Merit, and 1 point for a Pass. Places reserved for FETAC applicants are then offered in order of merit based on the ranking.
Entry to the first year of the BA in Theology & Arts programme (MU001), and to the BA in Theology programme (MU002), will be considered for holders of one of the following FETAC/NCVA Level 5 and Level 6 qualifications and who have obtained at least 5 distinctions.

As the number of places available will be limited, those places will be allocated on a competitive basis based on the student’s score. Where more than one student has the same score, students will be ranked on a random basis by the CAO.
It is expected that up to 2 places will be available in MU001 (Theology & Arts) and up to 1 place will be available in MU002 (Theology). For further details, please contact the Admissions Office Email: admissions@spcm.ie. Tel: (01) 7084772
