College Production of SIVE

The College Drama Society produced John B. Keane's Sive, directed by Eoin Winters, by kind permission of Mercier Press.

It is a story of greed and bitterness, of a scheming matchmaker and a resentful woman forcing a beautiful young girl to marry an old man. Set against the harsh poverty and difficult times of 1950s Ireland, Sive caused considerable controversy on its debut in February 1959. Since then it has become and established part of Ireland's theatrical canon.

St Patrick's College Drama Society is based in the National Seminary at Maynooth, and involves both lay and clerical students in its annual production. All proceeds from the production benefit Maynooth Mission Outreach, a charitable organization which sends students on voluntary work in developing countries.
